      RUclips revenue varies constantly from video to video and from day to day. Basically though, the revenue is quantified by 'RPM' (revenue per mille), which means a certain amount is paid per every one thousand ad views (not video views). So if my average video displays 2 or 3 ads, then that one view of my video accounts for a tiny fraction of one thousand ad views... which can pay out (before taxes) a couple bucks. As an example - my RPM average over the past 28 days was $3.31 - and at the present time my channel is getting very low views, averaging around 2 or 3 thousand views per day. And if it weren't for a couple of my 'evergreen' time-lapse videos that account for a large percentage of those views, those numbers would be far, far less. Kinda makes me ask myself sometimes why I devote so much time to it......

      So if I understood you... then your thinking on the subject is that the solution might be to not have a solution? :P Haha! The cool thing is like hot biological compost they do get rid of the dangerous pathogens like the hot process does in hot compost in 3’x3’ min size piles. The other filter against bad pathogens is fixing compaction to make sure soil is aerobic as a lot of anerobic(without oxygen) is where the bad pathogens exist, but to do that you you need organic matter and stuff and the way nature tend to do it and thus is not a method the usdsa acknowledges but it’s simply by overwhelming the bad bacteria with good ones and they keep them in check or make them go dormant

    Hey there AV i used this method to separate castings for the first time (got the idea from you) and it worked great. The last few times I had mature bins I just dumped the whole thing into the garden beds, rather than deal with separating out the worms. But this time I wanted to separate clean castings. I just used a cardboard divider and added very wet food burritos (food rolled up in brown packing paper) on the other side. Had a slow but sure migration of at least 95% of the worms over to the food. Made it very easy to harvest Just wanted to say thanks.

      Hmmm... sounds like a pretty good idea. It would get a bunch of finished castings out of the way & give the wormies a chance at refining the stuff that's presently in a clumpy state. And then they could also be treated to a bunch of nice fresh bedding too... which is something they haven't had in some time now :)

      If I were to switch to using the bigger sprayer then my index finger of my right hand would miss out on all that wonderful exercise it gets from me pumping the little blue spray bottle :) But seriously... I am confident that using the fresh batch of solution will finally solve this issue - and I think that the amounts that I am able to dispense with the small pump bottle will be enough. After all, I did have success with this stuff in the past - and then too I used only the small bottle to dispense the stuff

    The vinegar traps are only good for catching fruit flies, not fungus gnats. Also, apple cider vinegar works much better than distilled white vinegar. I think distilled white vinegar is just too refined to attract fruit flies into it.

      @@A-V I know I do because I have fought the battle. It's a long long battle even with the yellow sticky traps. I do believe they would even catch a larger bug or a spider or anything else that gets on it cuz they stay sticky for years. I usually keep a couple of them in the worm bin room in my apartment and one in the kitchen in case they find the kitchen interesting....keep up the good work!

    I wonder if you could sneakily stick the hose of a vacuum cleaner in there and give the bag a kick while you have it on to get rid of all those adults while the BTI works on their children??!? I had a couple of folks mention they put the bits right into the bin, maybe crumble up a dunk if that's what you have??!? Either way, hopefully this is their last hurrah in your VermiBag!! Yep, I use more bedding in my UWB but that's because I don't have patience & want to see it bulk up quick😀Excellent video AV!!🪱🪱🪱

      I've seen that guy Newell on the World Composting channel use the vacuum trick to round up the flying insects in his bag system.. but I have never really though about trying it myself. And I've seen other places (can't recall where) they added the Mosquito Dunks to their worm chow - which is akin to your idea of putting the bits straight into the system. I suppose I'd really like to know that I can reproduce the great results I once had in the VermiBag Tote when I managed to rid myself of the pests using the BTI solution. I was fairly sure that I was screwing something up - and I suspect that the mistake I made was just keeping that stuff around for too long - compounded with me diluting it each time I would use some of it up. I think that I should begin seeing better results if I keep to using the stuff while it is freshly prepared and not watering it down... :)

    These bags are meant to give you big harvest every month .if you use it as intended. Yes you should add about double of what bedding you add. Then the level will actually rise.

    • @A-V

      I worry about opening the bottom too soon & not having a rigid enough block of semi-solid material that will hold itself in place. Perhaps some day I will actually harvest some castings from it :)

      I do get some fungus gnats in my vinegar traps along with many fruit flies, but agree yellow sticky traps and BTI work best for fungus gnats. Also, I dilute the vinegar with water. I think straight vinegar is too strong.

    • @A-V
      @A-V 7 дней назад

      That explains why my trap is still producing zero results. Sounds like the time has come to retire it since it's never going to do anything for my situation :)

    I just noticed that I have gnats in my worm bin. I have Mosquito Bits so I started spraying my bin with a solution of that and water. I bought some yellow sticky traps and stood a couple of them up in my bin. Also, put tulle over the top of my bin. I should probably remove my plastic cover, too. Hope all of that works ... I enjoy your videos and am learning so much.
